Capoeira
Experience traditional martial arts, acrobatics, and music within a flowing game of strategic movement.
Description
This is where it all begins. Our traditional Capoeira class is our most important focus. While our other programs help you get fit or flexible, this class is where you truly become a Capoeirista.
Capoeira is a beautiful “game” of strategy. In this class, you will learn how to move with grace, defend yourself with speed, and play instruments like the Berimbau. It is a complete cultural experience that challenges your body and your mind. Whether you are here for the culture, the movement, or the community, this is the main stage where everything comes together.
Why This is Our Most Important Class
To truly master Capoeira, you must learn more than just the moves. This class is essential for every student because it covers the Three Pillars of a Capoeirista:
- The Movement: Mastery of kicks, escapes, and the iconic Ginga.
- The Music & Culture: Learning the traditional songs and how to play the instruments that lead the “Roda” (the circle).
- The Promotion (The Belt System): This is the only class where you progress through our grading system. By learning all the elements here, you earn your Belt (CordĂŁo) and move up to new levels in your journey.
What You Will Learn
- Self-Defense & Strategy: How to “play” with a partner in the Roda using kicks and clever escapes.
- Acrobatics (Floreios): Learning to move your body through space with flips, carts, and handstands (step-by-step!).
- Traditional Music: How to sing in Portuguese and play the traditional instruments.
- The Roda: Participation in the traditional circle where we put our skills into practice in a friendly, high-energy environment.
Who Should Join?
This is our “Main Class,” and we encourage all students to make this their priority. It is perfect for:
- The True Student: Anyone who wants to truly learn the art of Capoeira, not just the exercise.
- Goal-Oriented Movers: Those who want to progress through the belt system and reach higher levels.
- Community Seekers: People who want to be part of a global family and learn about Brazilian culture.
- All Levels: From absolute beginners to advanced players—there is a place for everyone in the Roda.
